Artemisinine is an effective antimalarial drug being used in medicine. The problem of chemical and microbiological synthesis of new derivatives of antimalarial agents is very important and it’s decision will lead to avoiding of Plasmodium falcaparum resistance for new antimalarial drugs.
Hydroxyderivatives of artemisinine may have value properties for pharmacology. Studies showed that the steryc bulk near the 7b-H of artemisinin would increase his activity. But chemical hydroxylation of the 7b position is difficult, so it seems more possible to accomplish it using biotransformation methods.
